Funding Transfers
Fondeos (funding transfers) let you track cash transfers made to asset operating accounts. This is essential for reconciling how much money was sent to each asset versus how much was actually spent.
What Are Fondeos?
A fondeo is a record of money transferred to fund an asset’s operations. For example, when an owner wires funds to a yacht’s operating account, that transfer is recorded as a fondeo in SOPHIOS.
Tracking fondeos allows you to:
- Know exactly how much cash has been sent to each asset
- Compare funding against actual invoices and expenses
- Reconcile balances at the end of each period
- Maintain a clear audit trail of all transfers
Fondeo Fields
Each fondeo record contains:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Amount | Transfer amount |
| Currency | Currency of the transfer (EUR by default) |
| Transfer Date | Date the transfer was made |
| Type | Transfer type (OPERATIVO — operational funding) |
| Reference | Bank reference number or transfer identifier |
| Notes | Optional notes about the transfer purpose |
| Status | CONFIRMED — all recorded fondeos are confirmed transfers |
| Asset | The asset this funding is for |

The fondeo is recorded and immediately reflected in your stats and summaries.
Fondeos are per-asset. Make sure you have the correct asset selected in the asset selector before registering a fondeo.
Stats and Summaries
The Fondeos page displays summary cards at the top:
- Total Funded — Sum of all fondeos for the selected asset
- Average Transfer — Average fondeo amount
- Transfer Count — Number of fondeos recorded
- Latest Transfer — Most recent fondeo date and amount
Annual Summary
View fondeos aggregated by year to understand funding patterns over time. This shows total transfers per year and helps with year-over-year comparisons.
Financial Summary
A broader view that combines fondeo data with invoice spending data, giving you a high-level picture of cash flow for each asset.
Fondeos in Reconciliation
Fondeos are a key input for cash reconciliation (cierres de caja). When you create a reconciliation period, the system automatically sums all fondeos within that date range and compares them against invoices paid in the same period.
See Cash Reconciliation for the full workflow.
Best Practices
- Record fondeos promptly — Enter transfers as they happen to keep your records current.
- Use the reference field — Always include the bank reference. This makes it easy to match transfers with bank statements.
- Add descriptive notes — Notes like “Refit phase 2 funding” or “Monthly operating Q2” help when reviewing historical records.
- Reconcile monthly — Use fondeos alongside invoices in monthly cash reconciliation to catch discrepancies early.
